The Gombe State Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has applauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for what it described as an unprecedented transformation of the state’s judiciary, citing massive investments in judicial infrastructure as a “historic turnaround.”
The commendation came after an inspection visit by the NBA Executive Council to the ongoing multi-billion-naira Gombe State High Court Complex and the newly completed Sharia Court of Appeal in Gombe.
During the visit, NBA Chairman Alhassan Mu’azu expressed satisfaction with the quality and scope of the High Court project, noting that its completion would significantly improve judicial efficiency and service delivery across the state.
“Since the creation of Gombe State, this level of development in the judiciary has never been witnessed. With Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s foresight and commitment, the judiciary is now getting the same attention as the executive, with a befitting and conducive environment to deliver justice effectively,” Mu’azu stated.
He described the governor’s intervention as a bold corrective step after years of neglect, stressing that a modern and comfortable working environment would boost morale, productivity, and the overall administration of justice.

Project consultant Architect Imeh Umoh, who conducted the NBA team around the construction site, said the High Court Complex expected to be completed by January 2027 features three floors housing 12 courtrooms, a ceremonial courtroom, judges’ chambers, offices, a law library, holding cells, and ancillary facilities such as a car park, water system, and standby power generators.
At the newly completed Sharia Court of Appeal, the delegation was received by the Chief Registrar, Barrister Ibrahim Usman Jibrin, who commended Governor Yahaya for reviving and completing the long-abandoned project after more than 13 years. He, however, called for the appointment of additional Khadis to ease case congestion and enhance speedy justice delivery.
Mu’azu emphasized that the NBA’s visit was also aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Bar and the Bench, highlighting the importance of a serene and functional environment for effective justice administration.
“We were highly impressed by what we saw of the scale of the projects, the quality of work, and the governor’s commitment to judicial independence. When completed, Gombe will rank among the states with the most modern and functional judicial complexes in Nigeria,” he remarked.
The NBA Chairman further commended the Inuwa-led administration for promoting good governance through balanced development across all arms of government, describing the judiciary projects as a testament to visionary leadership and respect for the rule of law.
