The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has formed a 5-member committee to address the growing issue of land grabbing in the city.
The committee, comprised of legal experts including Chief Niyi Akintola and Mr. Musibau Adetunbi, along with three other lawyers, has been tasked with coming up with effective solutions to combat the problem.
In a statement released through his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, on Wednesday, the Olubadan emphasized the collaborative effort between the Oyo State government and the Olubadan-in-Council to eliminate the menace of land grabbing in Ibadan.
He urged the committee to get to work quickly and set a deadline of 21 days to conclude its assignment.
Ladoja clarified that the new legal advisory committee is designed to support the existing committee led by Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, focusing on land issues.
The Olubadan encouraged the committee members to include professionals such as town planners, surveyors, security personnel, and members of the legal community to assist in their work.
Describing land grabbing as a complex issue with many intertwined factors, Ladoja expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to tackle this challenge.

Supporting the Olubadan’s stance, the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, stressed the urgent need for action, suggesting the establishment of anti-land-grabbing tribunals across all the 11 local government areas in Ibadanland to help protect residents.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Akintola expressed their gratitude to the Olubadan and the Olubadan-in-Council for the opportunity to serve the community.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation from the Oyo State government and the people of Ibadan in addressing the issue of land grabbing.
