Three years have passed since the tragic loss of Big Brother Naija star and talented musician, Patrick Fakoya, better known by his stage name, Rico Swavey.

On this poignant anniversary, both his management team and devoted fans have come together to pay heartfelt tributes in honor of his enduring legacy.

In a deeply emotional post shared on Monday on the social media platform X, Rico’s management described him as a shining beacon of love and creativity, emphasizing the impact he made on those around him.

The tribute resonated with affection, stating, “your memory blooms like a garden of everlasting flowers,” encapsulating the enduring nature of his influence.

“On this third anniversary of your departure, we choose to remember not only the day you left us but also the vibrant life you lived and the boundless love you shared. Keep resting, Rico,” the emotional post conveyed.

Rico Swavey first captured the hearts of viewers during the 2018 Double Wahala edition of Big Brother Naija.

His life was tragically cut short on October 13, 2022, when he succumbed to severe injuries sustained in a devastating car accident in Lagos.

The incident occurred in the darkness of a poorly lit stretch of the Lekki-Ajah Expressway, leading to an outpouring of grief and shock across the nation as fans and friends struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.

In an emotionally charged interview with journalist Chude Jideonwo, Rico’s mother recounted the harrowing experience of holding her son in her arms at a Lekki hospital, as he pleaded for her to “bring him back.”

Her anguish underscored the profound impact of his untimely death on those who loved him.

Amid various rumors surrounding the circumstances of the crash, an eyewitness named Sunday Michael, who was the Uber driver with Rico during his final moments, clarified that the late reality star was not under the influence of alcohol or any substances before the accident.

Additionally, Doren Specialist Hospital, where Rico received initial treatment, publicly refuted allegations of negligence, vehemently denying claims that staff members filmed him while he was on his sickbed, further protecting his dignity in life and death.

Earlier this year, the producers of Big Brother Naija Season 10 honored Rico and two other late former housemates, Francisca Owumi and Joseph Ada, with a poignant tribute segment.

The show observed a minute of silence in their memory, highlighting their lasting impact on the lives of contestants and viewers alike.

Rico Swavey, remembered not only for his calm demeanor and artistic flair, but also for his charismatic presence, continues to be one of the most cherished alumni of the BBNaija franchise.

His legacy, marked by creativity and kindness, is celebrated and kept alive within the entertainment industry and among his fans.
