Arise News has announced the funeral plans for its journalist, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, who tragically lost her life during an armed robbery attack at her home in Abuja on September 29, 2025.

The network stated on Saturday that an evening of tributes will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the THISDAY Dome in the Central Business District of Abuja.

This will be followed by a service of songs on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral on Kaduna Street in Port Harcourt.

Arise News confirmed that Maduagwu will be buried in her hometown of Agulu, Anambra State, on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

“The burial will be preceded by a funeral mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Agulu,” the network said in a statement on Saturday.

At just 29 years old, Maduagwu was a lawyer, model, and accomplished broadcaster.

She worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at ARISE TV until her untimely death.

She was killed during a violent robbery in the Katampe District of Abuja, which also claimed the life of a security guard, Barnabas Danlami.

It would be recalled that the Federal Capital Territory Police Command had reported the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the incident.

Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh stated that initial investigations have connected the group to cross-border arms trafficking.

“Preliminary findings indicated that the syndicate acquired their firearms, including a locally made AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and a pistol, from an arms dealer operating across the Nigeria-Niger border,” Adeh revealed.

On Saturday, police officials presented the 12 suspects to the media.
