The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested a suspected marijuana dealer and transferred him to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
The State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, made the disclosure during a press briefing at the Corps’ headquarters in Kano on Thursday, describing the arrest as a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and criminal networks in the state.
According to Bodinga, the operation was carried out on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at about 2:30 a.m., by operatives of the NSCDC Doguwa Division, following credible intelligence. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Yusuf Alasan of Doguwa town, was apprehended alongside two accomplices, Muktar Musa and Musa Sani, at Riruwai Gate in Doguwa Local Government Area.

He revealed that the suspects were caught transporting three sugar-sized sacks filled with Indian hemp on a motorbike from Doguwa town to Kafau village. “Preliminary investigations have been concluded by the Corps. In the spirit of inter-agency collaboration, we are handing over the suspects and the recovered exhibits to the NDLEA Kano Command for further investigations and prosecution,” Bodinga stated.
The Commandant reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting critical national assets and ensuring a drug-free Kano, adding that the Corps would continue to strengthen its collaboration with sister security agencies to combat crime across the state.
He commended the media for their continued support in promoting transparency and urged journalists to maintain their vigilance in exposing criminal activities that threaten peace and security in Kano.
The NDLEA is expected to continue investigations and prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks across Northern Nigeria.
