Two years after assuming office, the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali has yet to be assigned any official aides, a situation that has raised concerns among government officials and political observers.
Unlike the office of the governor, which has been fully staffed with aides and advisers, the deputy governor’s office remains without key personnel, including a Chief Press Secretary, a position considered critical for coordinating communication between the deputy and the media.
Government insiders who confided in our correspondent on the condition of anonymity expressed concern that the absence of aides has taken a toll on the deputy governor’s health.
They argue that the stress of handling official duties without support staff may have contributed to his current health condition.
“I believe that the present health condition of the deputy governor could have been better managed if he had the aides he deserves,” said one official.

“Can you believe that since he assumed office over two years ago, he has not had a single aide to support him? Not even a press secretary to handle media engagements.”
Sources also revealed that although the deputy governor had reportedly submitted a list of potential aides and issued directives for their appointment, the process has been stalled.
Allegedly, some influential figures within the government are deliberately blocking the issuance of appointment letters, further compounding the issue.
“This is not just about politics; it’s about human dignity and functionality,” another official added. “The governor of the state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, needs to urgently intervene and allow the deputy to announce his team. This will reduce the burden on him and allow him to carry out his duties more effectively.”
Observers say the situation reflects internal tensions within the state administration and have called on Governor Kefas to act decisively to resolve the matter.
As of press time, there has been no official response from the governor’s office regarding the claims.
