The Delta State Executive Council has approved the construction of Judges’ Quarters in Asaba and Warri to provide befitting official accommodation for judicial officers in the state.
Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the council’s meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme on Thursday.
He said the first phase of the project would consist of ten four-bedroom duplexes, five units each in Asaba and Warri, designed to enhance the welfare, security, and comfort of judges in the discharge of their duties.
According to Angele, “His Excellency believes in maintaining balance among all arms of government, the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. With this project, every arm of government now has befitting official accommodation.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has announced that the council had approved the repudiation and termination of several non-performing contracts to ensure speedy and efficient project delivery across the state.

Aniagwu noted that one of the affected projects is the Ibusa Junction–Ogwashi-Uku Road, which forms part of the old Federal alignment of the Lagos–Asaba Road. The project, he said, will be reviewed and re-awarded to align with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s development vision.
He warned that the state government would not tolerate delays or negligence from contractors, stressing that, “once a contract is awarded, contractors are mobilized, and payments are made promptly upon certification. No contractor will be allowed to hold back progress while our people suffer.”
Aniagwu also disclosed that timelines for major ongoing projects, such as the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor and the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, have been shortened from 24 months to 18 and 14 months respectively, to accelerate delivery.
