A former two-time senator representing the Edo South Senatorial District, Ehigie Uzamere, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His resignation letter, dated October 7, 2025, was addressed to Mr. Osaigbovo Godspower, the chairman of Ward 12 in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area.
Uzamere was first elected in 2007 under the PDP banner and was re-elected in 2011 with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
He explained that his choice to leave the PDP was motivated by his dedication to serve his constituents rather than any ill will.
In part, his letter stated: “Politics, at its core, is a means of service and representation, allowing leaders to demonstrate their commitment to the welfare of the people.

“However, as the political landscape in Nigeria continues to change, I feel it is necessary to pursue a new platform that better aligns with my vision and my desire to serve my people effectively.
“In making this decision, I adhere to my philosophy of Aiguiyekampe politics without bitterness.
“My choice is based on conviction, not animosity, and reflects my ongoing commitment to serving our community.
“I hereby formally submit my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunities and experiences I have gained while being part of the party,” he stated.
The former senator, who is associated with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was among the politicians present at the inaugural meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
