A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has dismissed the peace meeting allegedly held between the Governor of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his loyalists.
Reacting to the meeting in a statement on Monday, Eze said the meeting is merely a visit by a delegation of “political touts” led by the Wike and his loyalists to the governor.
He contended that a genuine conflict resolution effort or peace meeting in the circumstance, would involve equal representation of the warring factions to assuage burning concerns and resolve conflicting interests in a way no party would feel alienated.
“Such meeting, if it were for peace would not hold without the presence of notable factors like the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Chief of Staff to Gov. Fubara, Edison Ehie, Tele Ikuru, erstwhile Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Sam Jaja, Dr. Ikanya Ibiamu, High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe or any of the elders that stood with Gov. Fubara.
“Though, Nyesom Wike has never be known as a peaceable fellow, so if anyone thinks that this meeting was for any peace then such a fellow doesn’t understand the situation,” he said.
According to Eze, with the calibre of persons at the said meeting, the aim of the meeting was simply targeted at cornering the resources of Rivers State for themselves to the detriment of the development of the state.
“And apart from this, the meeting was nothing but to intimidate the governor and to impose some undemocratic elements on him as his commissioners and aides.
“Assuming the meeting was for peace, forcing the governor not to bring any of his associates simply exposes Wike as a tyrant and a nepotistic leader.

“It is left to the generality of Rivers State to find a way to free themselves and the state from such a band of unprogressive elements,” Eze added.
The APC chieftain urged the people to continue to pray for Gov. Fubara for divine wisdom to find a way to navigate the sad situation.
He maintained that Tinubu and Wike have made Rivers State a laughing stock before democratic and civilised states, stressing that how the state can come out of it is left to God and the people.
Eze advised the governor to tread with caution, pointing out that the men around him in the picture from the meeting are enemies of the state and will remain so in the eyes of Rivers people.
“Finally, I will plead with the church and any caring and concerned Nigerians not to give up on Rivers State but to embark upon very serious prayer to free the state from satanic holds that are hellbent on strangulating her and looting her resources into private purses”, Eze pleaded.
