Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate construction of a new hospital, water facilities, and other essential infrastructure for the conflict-affected community of Kirawa.
The Governor made the announcement during a visit to the town, which was recently targeted in a violent attack by insurgents.
Governor Zulum condemned the assault in strong terms and expressed his deep sympathy to the affected residents, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the safety and welfare of the people.
As part of broader recovery and security measures, Zulum also revealed plans to strengthen security in the area. He announced the planned deployment of additional security forces and the establishment of a new Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) outpost to boost surveillance and enable rapid response to threats.
The Governor undertook the visit by road, accompanied by Brigadier General N. I. Abdullahi, Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade, members of the Borno State and National Assemblies, as well as senior government officials.

During his remarks, Zulum called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to intensify military operations across Borno State to consolidate existing security gains and prevent a resurgence of insurgent activities.
“I am appealing to the Nigerian Armed Forces to be more committed. Above all, we need military operations. For some time, military operations have not been conducted in Borno State. This has contributed to the renewed insurgency,” Zulum stated. “There is a need to sustain and scale up our military presence to secure our communities.”
The latest interventions are part of Zulum’s ongoing efforts to restore stability and rebuild lives in communities affected by the long-running conflict in northeastern Nigeria.
