A devastating fire outbreak has occurred around Bedwell Street in Calabar, Cross River State, destroying property worth millions of naira.
The inferno which an eyewitness confirmed, happened at 3am, gutted several shops selling home accessories, curtains, bedsheets, and other materials.
The fire, which started near the former Nigeria Airways office, was reportedly caused by a mad man who attempted to set fire to a car tire close to one of the shops late in the night, the eyewitness also claimed

He asserted that neighbors quickly responded to the blaze, managing to contain the fire before it spread further.
But despite their efforts, the inferno burned down several shops, causing significant losses estimated to be worth millions of naira.
The affected victims have expressed their devastation over the incident, recounting the emotional and financial toll of losing their businesses.
