Grammy-nominated Afrobeat star Seun Kuti has taken his activism into a new space with the launch of Bird’s Eye View, a hard-hitting podcast produced by OkayAfrica. Co-hosted with Chicago-based Pan-Africanist Bro Diallo, the show dives into Pan-Africanism, capitalism, and the global fight for Black liberation.

The podcast premiered on September 1, 2025, and is already generating a wave of reactions across social media, with listeners praising its boldness and candor. Streaming on YouTube, Bird’s Eye View has quickly positioned itself as a fresh intellectual space for Africans on the continent and in the diaspora to rethink long-held ideas about freedom, unity, and progress.

Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, has long used his music as a weapon against injustice. Known for his uncompromising stance and fiery advocacy, he brings the same revolutionary energy that earned him a Grammy nomination to the podcast format. For him, Bird’s Eye View is a continuation of his life’s work.

“This show is about telling the truth without filters,” Kuti said in the debut episode. “If Africans don’t examine what we believe, and whether those beliefs really serve us, then we will never achieve true liberation.”

OkayAfrica, which has become one of the strongest platforms amplifying African voices, is backing the project with its infrastructure and media reach. The company has seen success with Afrobeats Intelligence presented by OkayAfrica, which has garnered more than 2.2 million YouTube views, and now sees Bird’s Eye View as another step toward strengthening African storytelling.

Isha Sesay, CEO of OkayAfrica’s parent company Areya Media, underscored the importance of the partnership. “Central to our mission is building an intellectual bridge between Africans on the continent and in the diaspora,” she said. “Seun and Bro Diallo challenge us to think differently about colonialism, capitalism, and Africa’s progress. Producing Bird’s Eye View was an easy decision.”

The show is as entertaining as it is radical. Episodes blend historical insight with humor and unsparing critique, making weighty political and social debates accessible to a broad audience. Bro Diallo, a veteran Pan-Africanist activist with decades of organizing experience in the United States, adds depth with his knowledge of liberation struggles and grassroots movements.

With Bird’s Eye View, Seun Kuti once again cements himself as one of Africa’s most fearless cultural voices. And with OkayAfrica’s backing, the podcast is poised to grow into a global platform for unfiltered conversations on the future of Black people worldwide.
