Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates, the Gates Foundation, and other world leaders to combat child mortality, following recent warnings on Nigeria’s child survival crisis.
Speaking at the Goalkeepers 2030 event organized by the Gates Foundation on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Governor Sani unveiled new collaborations with Bill Gates and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The partnership, he said, is designed to accelerate health reforms and ensure no child dies from preventable causes by the year 2030.

The governor stressed that Kaduna is aligning its fight against child and maternal deaths with global Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on improved primary healthcare delivery across the state. According to him, the initiative reflects his administration’s determination to provide lasting healthcare solutions that will secure the lives of children and mothers in every community.
“Collaborations like this reinforce our resolve to create a thriving Kaduna where no community is left behind,” Sani declared.
The Goalkeepers event, a flagship platform of the Gates Foundation, brought together international leaders championing the SDGs and highlighted the urgent need for action in countries struggling with high child mortality rates.
