The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the official launch of “Operation Go Cashless,” a major initiative designed to phase out cash payments across Nigeria’s airports. The scheme, which begins on September 29, 2025, will take effect first at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja before expanding nationwide.
FAAN said the move, introduced in partnership with Paystack, will transform payment systems at airport access gates, car parks, VIP and Protocol lounges by replacing cash transactions with secure cashless and contactless payment options. The agency explained that the policy responds to the growing demand for safe, modern, and transparent payment systems in line with global digital trends.
According to FAAN, passengers and airport users can now enjoy faster and more seamless services by adopting cashless payments, which also promise to improve efficiency, revenue assurance, and customer experience at airports. By reducing reliance on cash, the agency believes Nigerian airports will not only enhance transparency but also remain competitive with international aviation standards.

To help ease the transition, FAAN has deployed trained brand ambassadors at access gates and terminals in Lagos and Abuja. These ambassadors will guide travelers, assist with onboarding, provide demonstrations, and respond to inquiries. Travelers can also obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at airport access gates, activate it immediately, and fund their cards through the agency’s dedicated portal at www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng.
FAAN’s Director of Operations, represented by the Kaduna Office Head Malam Suleiman Muhammad, emphasized that the policy is part of the authority’s long-term commitment to modernize Nigerian airports and align them with international best practices. He assured that the cashless rollout will continue in phases until it covers all airports nationwide.
For inquiries, passengers have been urged to contact FAAN through its dedicated support line at 0700-CBS-FAAN (0700-227-3226) or via email at gocashlesssupport@faan.gov.ng.
With this landmark move, FAAN is set to usher in a new era of digital convenience at Nigerian airports, marking a bold step toward smarter, safer, and more efficient air travel services.
