Arsenal have secured a major boost to their defensive lineup as French international William Saliba has signed a new five-year contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2030.
The 24-year-old defender, who still had two years left on his previous deal set to expire in June 2027, has now pledged his long-term future to Mikel Arteta’s project despite reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Saliba joined Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in July 2019, spending loan spells at Saint-Etienne, Nice, and Marseille before establishing himself as a first-team regular. Since making his competitive debut for Arsenal in August 2022, he has become the backbone of the Gunners’ defense, amassing 137 appearances and earning praise as one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs.

His decision to extend his stay comes shortly after his defensive partner Gabriel Magalhaes signed a long-term deal until 2029, strengthening Arsenal’s backline for years to come. With both players committing their futures, Arteta’s vision for domestic and European success looks more secure than ever.
Arsenal will now look to carry this momentum into their next Premier League clash as they travel to St James’ Park on Sunday to face Newcastle United.
