The bail application of Adamawa politician Husseini Bello Gambo Nakura suffered another setback on Monday as the Adamawa State High Court declined to grant him release from custody.
Nakura, who has spent 13 days behind bars, is facing multiple charges linked to alleged inflammatory remarks involving the National Security Adviser, the wife of former President Muhammadu Buhari, and other prominent figures. His legal team had argued that the bail conditions earlier imposed by a Magistrate Court were excessive and sought fresh terms from the High Court, citing concerns over his deteriorating health.
However, both the police and the court registrar opposed the application, insisting that the High Court lacked jurisdiction since bail had already been granted at the lower court, albeit under strict conditions.

Presiding judge, Justice Christopher Dominic Mapeo, upheld the objection and adjourned the matter to Wednesday, September 24, 2025, for further hearing.
The case has drawn public attention in Adamawa and beyond, sparking debates over the limits of free speech, political expression, and the treatment of opposition voices in Nigeria’s democratic space. For Nakura, the legal battle continues as questions mount over whether he will eventually regain his freedom.
