Six Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives members from Delta State on Tuesday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers who transitioned to the APC are Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi, representing the Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West/Ukwuani Federal Constituency; Rep. Jonathan Ukodhiko, representing Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency and Rep. Nicholas Mutu, representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency.
Others include Rep. Thomas Ereyitomi, representing Warri North/Warri South/Warri South West Federal Constituency; Rep. Julius Pondi, representing Burutu Federal constituency and Rep. Victor Nwokolo, representing Ika North East/lka South Federal Constituency.
During the formal announcement of their defection, the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, welcomed the House members into the APC, highlighting the importance of unity and collaboration for national progress.
In their letters of resignation, the defecting lawmakers cited the ongoing crisis within the PDP as a primary reason for their decision to switch allegiances.

They also pointed to the need to follow in the footsteps of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who has emphasised the necessity of joining a party that is focused on consolidating progress for the state.
In a related development, two members of the Labour Party (LP) from Enugu State have also defected to the PDP.
Rep. Chidi Obetta, who represents the Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency, announced his switch, attributing it to what he termed as the “lingering crisis” within the LP.
Similarly, Rep. Dennis Agbo, representing the Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, also resigned from the Labour Party, citing internal divisions as a key factor for his departure.
