The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that five officers lost their lives in an ambush by Fulani herdsmen in Sabon Sara village, located in the Darazo Local Government Area of the state.

Wakil explained that the ambush occurred on November 22, when combined police tactical units, acting on intelligence, conducted a visibility patrol aimed at preventing and managing conflicts between farmers and herders in the Sabon Sara area.

He mentioned that a Good Samaritan had alerted the Command about the ambush involving personnel from the Rapid Response Squad, 10 PMF Bauchi, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the State Intelligence Department.

The statement indicated, “Five officers made the ultimate sacrifice, two were injured, and a number of bandits were neutralized in Sabon Sara village, Darazo LGA, Bauchi State.”

“As we strive to achieve a crime-free state, where the unlawful activities of criminals threaten the safety of law-abiding citizens, we are pleased that our personnel met expectations by neutralizing a significant number of bandits during the gunfight.”

The Bauchi State Police Command expressed deep regret over this tragic incident involving combined police tactical teams on an intelligence-led visibility patrol in Sabon Sara village, Darazo.
