The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a 48-year-old man, Emmanuel George, for the alleged brutal rape of a 12-year-old girl in the Mini Orlu area, off Ada-George Road in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that the horrific incident occurred on September 6, 2023, when the victim, who was on holiday with her aunt, was attacked while returning from an errand.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko on Monday, the suspect, a native of Akwa Ibom but resident in Port Harcourt, is accused of luring the innocent child into a stationary tricycle, commonly known as Keke Napep, before launching his vicious assault.
In graphic details, Iringe-Koko revealed, “The suspect dragged the victim into a stationary tricycle… tied her hands, covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her before fleeing the scene.”
The police stated that operatives attached to the CP Strike Force swiftly mobilized after receiving a distress call and took the traumatized girl to the Police Hospital for an immediate medical examination and treatment.
“At about 2200hrs the same day, the suspect was apprehended through coordinated intelligence,” the police spokesperson declared.

In a shocking revelation of the crime’s details, the police disclosed that exhibits recovered from the scene included a bundle of rope used to bind the child, a wrap of fufu, and the blue tricycle where the atrocity was committed.
“The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation,” Iringe-Koko stated, confirming the strength of the case against him.
The suspect is currently cooling his heels in police custody alongside the damning exhibits as what the police termed a “discreet investigation” continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has reportedly reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the perpetrator faces the full, wrathful extent of the law.
