The Katsina State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 400-level student of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Saidu Abdulkadir, who died after being shot by a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
It was learnt that the incident occurred around 11:06 am on February 23, when Abdulkadir (25), a student of the Department of Agricultural Extension, was riding on a commercial motorcycle with the rider, Abubakar Yusuf.
Four CJTF operatives in a Toyota Hilux vehicle attempted to stop them, and when they allegedly failed to comply, one of the officers opened fire, hitting the student in the thigh and hips, and wounding Yusuf in the thigh, according to sources,

The duo were said have been rushed to the General Hospital, Dutsin-Ma, before being referred to Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina.
Abdulkadir was said to have died at about 3:00 pm.
The state police command said it has launched an investigation to identify, and arrest the CJTF officer responsible for the shooting.
Meanwhile, security measures have been strengthened in the area to prevent any unrest.
