The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the tragic death of 20-year-old security guard Polmi Dauda, who succumbed to injuries following an alleged altercation.
According to a statement released by the police, the incident occurred on March 22, 2025, near Larema Hotel, where Dauda was employed.
His brother, Mr. Danda Dauda, according to the statement signed by command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Mohammed Wakili, reported the case to the Bauchi Metro Area Command at approximately 12:50 PM.
Stating that, the case was subsequently transferred to the E Divisional Police Headquarters in Yelwa for further inquiry.
Preliminary findings, as made known by the command, indicate that the altercation stemmed from an accusation of theft involving clothing and personal items belonging to a tenant.
“Police have identified four suspects in connection with the case: Ibrahim Yahaya, a pharmacist at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH); Musa Awwal, a medical doctor at ATBUTH; Imrana Ibrahim, a local businessman; and Zakariya’u Isah, another security guard.

Authorities believe the suspects confronted Dauda, leading to the fatal encounter,” the statement read.
Despite being rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Dauda was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Adding that, ” His body has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary pending a postmortem examination.”
The Commissioner of Police, was said to have ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.
The police command also reassured the public of its commitment to justice and urged residents to remain calm while the investigation unfolds.
