Emergency responders successfully rescued four men from a three-storey building that collapsed while under construction on Friday night in Yaba, Lagos.
Acting Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for the Lagos Operations Office, Mrs. Ibitayo Adenike provided the details of the incident in a press statement released on Saturday.
The building collapsed around 8:30 p.m. at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, a location known for its rapid urban development and ongoing construction projects.
According to Adenike, the sudden collapse trapped several individuals within the debris.
“We have managed to rescue four men who sustained injuries and have transported them to the hospital for urgent medical attention,” she reported.
Adenike noted that the exact number of people still trapped beneath the rubble remains uncertain, as structural safety concerns prevent rescuers from fully assessing the building until it is safely brought down to ground level.
