Four persons have been confirmed dead and seven others injured following the collapse of a three-storey building at the Abedi area of Sabon Gari, in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
Spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Saminu Yusif and Umar Madigawa, respectively, confirmed the incident, saying the building collapsed on Sunday evening after a heavy downpour.
They said the victims included construction workers and passersby who got trapped in an uncompleted structure while taking shelter during the rainfall.

Madigawa said the Kano operation office of NEMA received a distress alert at 6:49 pm, about the sad incident, and immediately activated its search and rescue response, mobilising a response team in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
He noted that as of 11:30 am on Monday, 11 victims have been rescued, with four victims confirmed dead and seven others alive.
The NEMA official pointed out that the injured victims have been evacuated to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, for medical attention.
He also added that efforts are being intensified by the emergency responders to safely reach others who may be trapped in the rubble.
