Ahead of the 12th edition of the Women African Cup of Nations scheduled from July 2 – 23, 2022, in Morocco, the head coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, has invited Barcelona’s Asisat Oshoala, Onome Ebi, and CSKA Moskow’s Francisca Ordega and 29 others to camp.
The two weeks training camp which serves to prepare the team intensively for the Women’s AFCON finals in Morocco, will help ensure the Super Falcons get acclimatized to the weather condition of the host country before the tournament kicks off.
Asisat Oshoala, Barcelona’s prolific striker and winner of this season’s Pichichi award in Spain’s femini Primera Division, having missed Nigeria’s double-tie friendly with Canada last month due to injury, will be available to fly with the team to Morocco.
According to the coach, Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender and captain Onome Ebi, midfielders Rasheedat Ajibade and Toni Payne, and forwards Francisca Ordega, Desire Oparanozie and Charity Adule are among those called to the two weeks intensive training programme.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) reported that the training camp will start on 18th June in the North African kingdom, with all players already advised to arrive in Rabat on 17th June
Nine-time champions, Nigeria, will play in Group C of the 12-team tournament alongside South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, Botswana and Burundi.
