Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has met with the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, to discuss a youth-focused initiative aimed at addressing violence through music and cultural engagement.

The meeting, which the singer disclosed in an Instagram post on Saturday, centered on a proposed programme designed to promote positive values among young Nigerians by using entertainment as a tool for social reorientation.

According to 2Baba, he visited the defence minister alongside members of his strategic team to present the concept and explore how music and popular culture could be used to counter violent narratives among the country’s youth.

“I had the honour of meeting with Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Defence, General CG Musa, alongside my strategic team to explore how music can help counter violent narratives among young Nigerians,” the singer wrote.

He explained that the initiative is built around a culture-driven approach that seeks to transform entertainment into a platform for social impact and youth development.

The proposed programme, he said, aims to spark meaningful conversations, empower young creatives, and redirect the energy of Nigeria’s large youth population toward nation-building.

“With over 150 million young people in Nigeria, many vulnerable to negative influences, initiatives like this are important to spark meaningful conversations, empower creative talent, and channel youth energy toward nation-building,” he added.

While the operational details and official name of the initiative were not disclosed, the engagement highlights 2Baba’s continued involvement in youth advocacy and social development efforts.

In 2017, the singer launched the “Vote Not Fight” campaign in partnership with the Youngstars Foundation and the National Democratic Institute, an initiative aimed at promoting peaceful elections and discouraging electoral violence among young Nigerians.
