A 21-year-old man, Dauda Sa’idu, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for vandalizing graves and stealing iron rods from a Christian cemetery in Yelwan Kagadama.
Making the announcement yesterday in Bauchi, the command spokesperson person, Ahmed Wakili, said the incident occurred last week in broad daylight.
According to the police, the suspect was apprehended after causing significant damage to several graves.
During interrogation, Sa’idu was said to have confessed to the crime, admitting that he sold the stolen iron rods to scrap metal buyers.

He was also said to have admitted to having received the sums of N9,500, N12,000, and N5,500 on different occasions from the sales.
The suspect was also said to have revealed that he used the proceeds to purchase both Indian hemp and food items.
The suspect, at the time of filing this report, is cooling off his heels in police custody, pending when he will be arraigned before the court after the investigation, which the police said is still ongoing.
