Former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay, has admonished All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Isoko North and South Local Government Areas of Delta State, to shun the politics of backbiting and pull him down syndrome in order to pave way for the growth of the party and the Isoko Nation.
Chief Macaulay gave the advice while addressing party supporters at his country home, when he welcomed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decampees led by Patrick Akporuno into the APC at Owhelogbo, in Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.
“We should stop backbiting and work on how we can win future elections and develop the Isoko Nation. We, as leaders, should not encourage backbiting, because that does not help us in any way,” he said.
Macaulay charged elected office holders in the two local government areas to work hard for their re-election, as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
He admonished the elected office holders against depending solely on the popularity of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, but should campaign vigorously for their re-election by allowing their antecedents speak for them.

While suing for unity among the leaders of the party in Isoko Nation, he expressed joy at the quality of politicians and their supporters joining the APC in Isoko Nation.
Macaulay explained that he left the PDP on personal grounds even before the mass defection by the state governor and the structure of the PDP in the state to the APC.
Earlier, the leader of the decampees, Patrick Akporuno, commended the leadership prowess of Macaulay, adding that the decampees had defected to the APC, alongside Gov. Oborevwori and other former PDP stakeholders across the state.
He said the decampees were only completing the processes that qualify them to be full members of the APC.
The Owhelogbo Ward 5 Chairman of the APC, Mr. Vincent Ubogu, receiving the defectors, said the APC remains the only party worthy to join that delivers the true dividends of democracy to citizens.
