A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a sweeping victory across the North in the 2027 general elections—despite opposition from vocal critics like Hakeem Baba-Ahmed and Buba Galadima.
Reacting to recent criticism of Tinubu’s administration, Kwankwaso dismissed Baba-Ahmed, a former political adviser to Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Buba Galadima, a longtime opposition figure, as “frustrated politicians” who have lost relevance in Nigeria’s current political landscape. He said the duo “lack the moral courage” to assess or condemn Tinubu’s governance, describing their commentary as baseless and hypocritical.
Kwankwaso, who currently serves as Executive Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, accused Baba-Ahmed of failing the North during his years in public office. “He claims to defend the North, but what did he ever achieve for the region?” Kwankwaso questioned. “His long years in government brought no development, yet he finds the voice to attack a government that is working.”
Turning his attention to Buba Galadima, Kwankwaso labelled him “the worst northern politician,” claiming he has no political base in his home state of Yobe. He said Galadima has built his career by leeching off the influence of political leaders without offering meaningful contributions. “He was with Buhari for years and brought him nothing but bad luck. Buhari only won when Galadima left. He moved to Shekarau, and now he’s hanging around Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. I advise Kwankwaso to be careful,” he added.
Highlighting his own track record, Kwankwaso said unlike Galadima, he had tangible results to show for his service, particularly in the maritime sector. He slammed Galadima for doing nothing to support crucial regional projects like the dredging of rivers in Northern Nigeria, which could have stimulated economic growth.

Kwankwaso also lauded President Tinubu’s achievements, saying the administration had already brought major development to the North in less than two years. He cited key infrastructure projects such as the Kano-Abuja expressway and the Badagry-Kebbi road network as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to national growth.
According to him, the impact of Tinubu’s policies is visible in the gradual drop in the prices of food and essential commodities. He attributed this to the President’s economic strategy, including duty-free importation privileges granted to industrial giants like BUA Group. “Nigerians are now beginning to afford basic needs again—yet Baba-Ahmed and Galadima remain silent. They are blind to progress because they have nothing positive to offer.”
Kwankwaso also pointed to Tinubu’s push for alternative energy as another major win, noting the rollout of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across Northern states like Borno, Kaduna, and Kwara—with Kano set to join soon. “CNG is changing lives. Where people used to spend over N100,000 on fuel, they now move with far less. This is real impact,” he said.
He dismissed any chance of northern voters turning against Tinubu in 2027 due to opposition propaganda. “Let me say this loud and clear—whether they like it or not, Bola Tinubu will win re-election and claim the North with a landslide. Nigerians, especially Northerners, are not blind to results. They know a working government when they see one.” He added.
