Campaign posters promoting former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2027 presidential election have appeared in parts of Kaduna, sparking fresh political speculation about a possible return to the nation’s highest office.
The posters, sighted across several locations in the city on Monday, were mounted at strategic points and quickly attracted the attention of residents and commuters.
Some of the posters were seen along the busy Ahmadu Bello Way and around Kawo Bridge, where passers-by reportedly paused to read the messages displayed.
They carried slogans such as “One Term to Reset, One Nation to Unite” and “2027: Sai Maimalfa,” prompting conversations among residents and political observers about whether Jonathan may consider contesting the next presidential election.

A group known as the GEJ Restoration Movement has claimed responsibility for the posters. The group described the campaign as a grassroots initiative intended to encourage the former president to consider returning to the presidential race.
Members of the group said Jonathan remains a respected national figure whose leadership could help bridge political divisions and address some of the country’s economic challenges.
The development has triggered debate within political circles, with analysts suggesting that the posters may signal early political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections in Nigeria.
However, supporters of the current administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu have played down the development, describing the appearance of the posters as a routine political occurrence often seen years before major elections.
They argued that the presence of early campaign materials should not necessarily be interpreted as confirmation that Jonathan intends to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Political watchers say the coming months will reveal whether the development represents a genuine political movement or simply an attempt by supporters to draft the former president into the race.
