Head coach Eric Chelle opted for continuity in key positions while injecting new energy into the side. His selections signal intent as Nigeria faces a qualification campaign that has already thrown up surprises across Africa.
First-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who impressed at the Africa Cup of Nations and in previous qualifiers, retains his spot and is joined by Amas Obasogie and Adebayo Adeleye. In defense, Semi Ajayi makes a timely return following Ola Aina’s injury during the 1-1 draw with South Africa. Terem Moffi makes a welcome comeback, while Akor Adams finally gets his long-awaited debut. Newcomer Ola Olusegun adds further depth to the forward line, giving the Super Eagles options in speed, strength, and finishing.
