A suspected 20-year-old serial killer and phone snatcher identified as Umar Auwal, alias ‘Abba Dujal’ has surrendered to the police in Kano State.
Spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement, noted that the suspect, a resident of Wudil Local Government Area of the state, confessed to his involvement in multiple violent crimes in the state and environs.
“Umar Auwal has confessed to his involvement in different cases of culpable homicide, armed robbery, motorcycle and phone snatching in different parts of the state and Jigawa State.
“At Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano, he confessed to having stabbed one Boka to death and stole his Infinix Hot 40i mobile phone, which he sold for N40,000.
“At Kurna Quarters, Kano, Umar also confessed to stabbing another person to death and stealing his Samsung S26 phone, which he sold for N160,000.

“In Jigawa State, he confessed to killing a man in Ringim Local Government Area, and stealing his motorcycle, which he sold for N300,000,” Kiyawa recounted.
The police spokesman disclosed that the suspect was arrested during a raid on strategic locations, aimed at ridding the state of criminals and ensuring the protection of life and properties of citizens.
He said the suspect is currently in custody at the command’s Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for detailed investigation and necessary action.
Kiyawa quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, as appreciating Umar’s decision to surrender and urged other criminals involved in similar crimes to follow his example
