Kwale, the headquarters of Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, was plunged into gloom Saturday evening, following the death of two persons and the injury of another in what appears to be a resurgence of cult related violence.
The killings left residents of Umusam, Utagba-Uno, and Isumpe in shock, with eyewitnesses recounting that one victim was gunned down near Zenith Bank, while the other lifeless body was discovered at Utagba-Uno Junction.
A third victim, who was gravely injured, was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Tragically, one of the deceased was set to wed on the day of his untimely demise. His fiancée, family members, and well-wishers were left in deep mourning as the joyous occasion turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.

According to a source, the groom-to-be was walking with friends to purchase items for the wedding, when he was ambushed and killed by suspected members of a rival cult group.
The atmosphere in Kwale remains tense, following the latest acts of cult killings.
“Crimes like kidnappings and killings are becoming rampant, especially during this period. We all need to be vigilant about our movements and interactions to avoid falling victim to such incidents,” a resident advised.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe proved unsuccessful.
However, security personnel have mounted roadblocks in areas where the killings took place, to prevent further violence and contain the situation.
