Two people are reportedly dead, while 559 were taken into custody in Paris during the celebrations that followed Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the Champions League finals.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, two fatalities occurred and numerous arrests were made across France as fans rejoiced over Paris Saint-Germain’s remarkable win in the UEFA Champions League final.
The heart of the celebration was in Paris, where car horns blared, cheers erupted, people sang in the streets, and fireworks lit up the night sky after PSG’s 5-0 conquer over Inter Milan in Munich.
The Interior Ministry reported on Sunday that 491 individuals were detained in the capital as crowds gathered on the Champs-Elysees avenue and violent confrontations ensued with law enforcement.
Nationwide, a total of 559 people faced arrest, the ministry noted.
Authorities confirmed two deaths amid the festivities. In Paris, a man on a scooter was killed after being struck by a vehicle in the southern 15th district, which is approximately 2 kilometers from the Champs-Elysees.
In Dax, a town in the southwest, a 17-year-old was fatally injured during a gathering celebrating PSG’s success, according to prosecutors.
This incident occurred shortly after the match and “during the celebrations,” but the prosecutor’s office stated they could not determine if it was connected to the Champions League final.

They mentioned that the suspect was “still at large.”
The PSG squad was scheduled to have a victory parade on the Champs-Elysees on Sunday, where tens of thousands of fans were anticipated to come out to see their heroes.

However, during the night, reporters observed law enforcement on the iconic street deploying water cannons to prevent a crowd from advancing toward the Arc de Triomphe located at the end of the Champs-Elysees.
“Individuals causing disturbances along the Champs-Elysees aimed to incite conflicts and frequently engaged with law enforcement by launching substantial fireworks and various items,” stated the police in a release.
