Arrested alongside with them, is a commercial motorcycle operator whose name was given as Dauda Yakubu and
a female.

While Dauda was identified as the buyer of the skulls, the female, whose role in the incident at the time of filing this report was not clear, was said to have been linked with the crime.

Both suspects who hail from Cholli, a community in Cameroon Republic were arrested on the 11th October, 2022, at Garware village in Fufore local government council of Adamawa.

The commercial motorcycle operator who was said to have been apprehended was arrested while conveying the suspects in the village. They were said to have confessed to have exhumed the skulls and the bones from graves in the country of Cameroon.

The Trumpet gathered they were apprehended while going about sourcing for different buyers, as Dauda who had in the past been purchasing the product from them refused to buy. The police command who went ahead to parade the suspects said they were arrested by the operatives while on routine patrol in the area.

The command’s spokesman Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who supervised the parading of the suspects, had admitted to the crime. The suspects, as further stated by him, were arrested by a police team led by CSP Usman Jauroyel.

Stressing that the arrest “was another remarkable achievement recorded by the command in its effort towards fighting crime and criminality” the suspects, as made known by him, had “confessed to digging the skulls and
the bones from a grave in a certain village in Cameroon Republic and brought it into Nigeria for sale.”

The suspects, at the time of filing this report, have been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation.

Investigation carried out by the command, was said to have led to the arrest of three other persons in connection to the crime. The command stressed the need for adequate security to be provided around all the graveyards spreads across the state.
