Sixteen Local Government Council Chairmen in Taraba State have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signalling another significant shift in the state’s political landscape.
The chairmen have concluded plans to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that their move was in solidarity with Governor Agbu Kefas, who is expected to officially defect to the APC on Wednesday.
Their decision was announced in a statement released on Monday by the state ALGON Chairman, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, on behalf of the council executives.
In the statement, the chairmen explained that leaving the PDP would allow them to fully align with the governor’s political direction and offer stronger support for his Moving Forward Agenda for Taraba State.
They also reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Kefas, praising his leadership qualities, peacebuilding initiatives, and unwavering commitment to the state’s development.
The development as observed by our correspondent, comes just hours after sixteen PDP members of the Taraba State House of Assembly also defected to the APC, intensifying the wave of political realignments currently sweeping through the state.
