Out of a pool of 497 team applications representing 1,761 individuals, 10 finalists have emerged in the #Hack4Livestock competition for their innovative approaches to addressing real-world challenges in Nigeria’s livestock sector.
Their selection followed a rigorous and transparent process, which included an anonymized technical review to ensure fairness and objectivity.
The purpose of this competition is to drive innovation in Nigeria’s livestock sector.
According to the Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tunji, on his official X handle on Monday, “the selected teams will receive expert mentorship, prototype their solutions, and compete for national recognition and implementation support.”
The minister also stated that the competition reflects the ministry’s commitment to mobilizing Nigerian tech talents in building scalable digital solutions for agriculture.
Meet the finalists:
1. AgroRithm Nigeria: A secure digital livestock marketplace with escrow, crypto/NFT options, alerts, and traceable listings to boost trust and reduce conflict.
2. Agrolinking Solutions Limited: Blockchain-based livestock traceability platform that assigns each animal a digital ID, enabling full tracking from birth to market via QR codes, mobile, and loT tech-ensuring food safety, market trust, and rural inclusion.

3. Agro Alliance: A real-time loT-based system using YOLOv8n, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 to detect cattle intrusions, trigger deterrents, and alert farmers via SMS, notifications, and calls-enhancing farm security and reducing conflicts.
4. AgroGenX: Mobile app that helps poultry farmers diagnose diseases with Al, trade products, learn via quizzes, connect with peers, and manage their farms, all in local languages with secure login options.
5. ANiMeDRig: Stationary, non-invasive digital device that automatically measures livestock body metrics and environmental conditions as animals walk through it, with real-time results sent to smartphones or the cloud for easy access and monitoring.
6. African Intelligence: African Intelligence LMS is a gamified, mobile-first platform delivering localized, Al-powered agricultural training-online or offline-to equip African youth, women, and farmers with practical livestock skills in animal welfare, smart tracking, biosecurity, and data literacy.
7. HerdGuard: Al-powered mobile app that lets farmers diagnose livestock diseases via photos or symptom descriptions, get instant guidance, and alert others-featuring a disease heatmap, emergency contacts, and offline support for rural areas.
8. J-Vincent Affordable, solar- and biogas-powered smart incubators, training, and flexible payment options to help smallholder farmers locally hatch chicks, reduce costs, and boost poultry success through real-time monitoring and community support.
9. Livestocx: Digital livestock marketplace, combining Al, geolocation, and blockchain to enable secure trading, payments, and logistics -empowering farmers to sell directly, avoid middlemen, and reach wider markets.
10. Vetable: AI-powered poultry disease diagnostic tool that analyses pathology images and clinical data to detect major diseases with 84 percent accuracy, supporting early detection and prevention across multiple platforms for vets, paravets, and farmers.
