The deceased who was alleged to be a member of the Vikings Confraternity, was reportedly attacked and murdered by the rival group around Etevie Quarters of Ozoro, on Sunday night .

A source who pleaded anonymity, said trouble reportedly started days back, when a certain young man whose identity remains unknown was beaten to stupor by a group of cultists.

“The matter started about a week ago, when one guy whose identity I don’t know was beaten by a group of suspected cult members” he said.

At the time of filing this report, at least one person has been reported dead with several others injured in the course of the conflict, which has kept the community in tension.

Early this morning, police officers were seen carrying out patrols and raid, aimed at restoring peace and order to the town.

When contacted for confirmation of the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, was yet to respond as at the time of filing the report.
