The African U-18/U-20 Athletics Championship stands as a leading continental event, uniting over 500 young athletes from various African nations.

With representatives anticipated from 53 countries, this championship is a key highlight in Africa’s athletics schedule.

Director General of the NSC, Bukola Olopade, will take the role of chairman for the organising committee, while Wasiu Isiaka, the Commissioner for Sports in Ogun State, has been designated as vice chairman.

Olopade noted that hosting the third iteration of this esteemed biannual championship illustrates the refreshed approach to sports within the framework of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, establishing Nigeria as a prominent site for global sporting events.

“This highlights the importance of the athletics industry, demonstrates our welcoming nature, aids in economic advancement, and signifies improvements in infrastructure,” he noted.
