The Durumi Super League 6.1 roared to life on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with an action-packed opening day that saw Goshen White Tigers and Bassey Sparrows seize the spotlight in Abuja’s buzzing football community.

In what has become one of the capital’s most anticipated grassroots football championships, the eleventh edition of the Durumi Super League welcomed five elite teams battling for glory over five consecutive weekends. The tournament lineup featured defending champions Goshen White Tigers, three-time title holders Bassey Sparrows, the ever-competitive Soso Lions, two-time champions Edu Wolves, and the spirited Allen Foxes.

From the first whistle, it was clear this year’s edition would be unforgettable. Goshen White Tigers and Bassey Sparrows thrilled fans with stellar performances, both teams topping the leaderboard with seven points each. Soso Lions closely followed with six points, Edu Wolves earned four, while Allen Foxes trailed with two points.

Edu Wolves’ captain, Ayodeji Ojo, famously known as BlackChild shared his thoughts after their first win, emphasizing the squad’s resilience and team spirit as the keys to their victory. “Our determination was key. Goshen White Tigers’ team manager and captain, Tobi Shittu, lauded the tournament’s organization and praised his players’ efforts, expressing confidence ahead of subsequent matches.
