Manchester United has officially reached a £65 million agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo, the Cameroonian international winger from Brentford.
Mbeumo would soon undergo a medical examination with the club before Ruben Amorim’s team departs for the United States on Tuesday for their pre-season tour.
The 25-year-old is expected to be United’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of forward Matheus Cunha and left-back Diego Leon.
United initially made a £55 million bid at the beginning of June, which was unsuccessful, as was a subsequent offer of £62.5 million at the end of that month.
However, Brentford is pleased with United’s latest proposal, which starts at £65 million and could increase to £70 million with additional performance-related bonuses.
Mbeumo, who joined Brentford in 2019 from Troyes, will become the club’s most expensive sale to date.
Last season, he achieved career-best statistics in the Premier League across various attacking metrics, including goals, assists, chances created, and touches in the opponent’s penalty area.
With a shot conversion rate of 23.53 percent, he was more clinical than all but two players in the league, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
His defensive contributions are also noteworthy, as he regained possession 32 times in the opponent’s third, ranking him third among all Premier League players.
One of Mbeumo’s standout attributes is his ability to carry the ball effectively.
He was involved in nine goal-scoring carries of over five meters during the 2024-25 season, the highest in the Premier League.

While he has excelled at Brentford, playing for Manchester United presents a different challenge, as expectations are significantly higher.
At Brentford, there was less pressure, but at United, he will be expected to deliver results immediately.
He brings experience, strong finishing skills, and versatility, being capable of playing both as a central striker and on the wing, where he can cut inside onto his stronger left foot.
However, he has only had one standout season, raising questions about his ability to maintain that level of performance consistently.
United has been looking for reliability in their attacking positions, especially since players like Alejandro Garnacho and Antony have not provided that consistency.
They may be seeking a more seasoned player, and Mbeumo fits that profile as a proven Premier League talent who aligns with Amorim’s system.
