Man arrested in Lagos for stealing neighbour’s car in Ogun

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a man, identified as Jackson Abraham, for allegedly stealing his neighbour’s vehicle from a park in Ogun State.

The arrest was made by officers of the Ebute Ero Division during a routine surveillance patrol in Lagos.

According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect was intercepted while driving a grey Mitsubishi Space Wagon. Officers became suspicious and promptly questioned the driver, which led to the discovery that the car had been reported stolen in Ogun State.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Abraham resides at the same address as the vehicle owner in Ogun State. He allegedly removed the vehicle without the owner’s consent. The car was recovered intact and is currently in police custody.

The rightful owner, who had earlier filed a missing vehicle report in Ogun State, has been contacted and is cooperating with ongoing investigations. Authorities have confirmed that arrangements are being made to transfer both the suspect and the recovered vehicle to the Ogun State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the Command’s dedication to combating auto theft and enhancing public safety. He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.

“This arrest and recovery demonstrate the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime. We urge Lagosians to support the police with timely information,” said Jimoh.
