Ederson shuts down Saudi transfer rumors, declares future with Manchester City

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has fiercely denied ongoing rumors linking him with a potential move to Saudi Arabia, declaring that his future remains firmly rooted at the Etihad Stadium. The Brazilian shot-stopper dismissed the reports as “99% fake news,” insisting that his focus is entirely on Manchester City and their pursuit of more silverware.

The 31-year-old, who joined City from Benfica in 2017 for £35 million, is entering the final year of his contract. Speculation around his next move intensified following reports that Saudi Pro League clubs were reigniting interest in him, a narrative that Ederson now says is completely baseless.

Speaking while on duty with Manchester City during the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, Ederson made his position crystal clear. “My future is here,” he stated. “Most of what’s being said about me is 99% fake news. People want clicks, likes, and engagement on social media, so they just make things up.”

The goalkeeper did confirm that he received a “lucrative offer” from Saudi Arabia last October but clarified that he never considered leaving Manchester City. “My focus is here. I want to continue winning trophies with this club,” Ederson said, reaffirming his loyalty.

Since arriving in England, Ederson has cemented his place as one of the best goalkeepers in world football. His remarkable distribution, shot-stopping ability, and calmness under pressure have been crucial to Manchester City’s dominance under Pep Guardiola. His trophy haul includes six Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League crown, and two FA Cups, among others.

Amid the swirling speculation, fresh rumors have emerged linking City with Diogo Costa, Porto’s highly-rated goalkeeper, whose contract reportedly includes a £64 million release clause. When asked about Ederson’s future, manager Pep Guardiola offered a measured response: “I don’t know,” he said, but quickly added that Ederson has been performing well in training and remains an important figure at the club.

With the summer transfer window heating up and contract talks looming, fans will be watching closely. But for now, Ederson’s message is clear his heart and his future are with Manchester City.
