Bryan Mbeumo officially joins Manchester United from Brentford

According to a club source, United has paid £65 million ($88 million) to Brentford, with a potential additional £6 million ($8 million) in performance-related bonuses for the 25-year-old player.

Mbeumo had a standout season in 2024-25, scoring a career-high 20 goals and helping Brentford secure a respectable 10th place in the Premier League.

Only Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23), and Erling Haaland (22) scored more goals in the league.

“Once I learned there was a possibility to join Manchester United, I couldn’t pass up the chance to play for the club of my dreams, the team I supported as a child,” Mbeumo stated on Monday.

“My goal is to continually improve. I believe I have the character and determination to elevate my game here, learning from [manager] Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class talent.”

Mbeumo has excelled on the right wing and has also shown his value as a center-forward, starting every league match last season for Brentford.

He joined the London club from Ligue 2 team Troyes in 2019 and has since made 242 appearances, scoring 70 goals and providing 51 assists.

“Bryan’s record of goals and assists in the Premier League is outstanding. His remarkable consistency has placed him among the most productive players in England over the past three seasons,” said United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox.

“We are thrilled to have secured another of our key targets ahead of the preseason tour. The experience in the US will be an excellent opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates as we gear up for an exciting season.”

Mbeumo is the fourth signing for United this summer, following Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and young talent Enzo Kana-Biyik.
