The Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Brig. Gen. Amechi Agwu, has decorated four army officers with their new ranks following their promotion from lieutenant to captain.
The officers honoured during the ceremony held at the brigade headquarters in Yola were Lt. S.A. Adewumi, Lt. Nnebe, Lt. Bitrus Phanuel Dauda, and Lt. A.A. Ismaila.
Brig. Gen. Agwu expressed appreciation to the chief of army staff for finding the officers worthy of elevation, describing the promotion as a reflection of their hard work, discipline, and commitment to duty.
He urged the newly promoted officers to remain resilient, dedicated, and focused, especially in the ongoing fight against insurgency in Adamawa State.
“The successes we have recorded in Adamawa State are due to your doggedness. We must not relent until we achieve 100% safety and peace in the state,” the brigade commander stated.
Also speaking at the event, Capt. Ajala, representing the senior officers, congratulated the newly promoted officers and reminded them that their new rank comes with greater responsibilities.

He pledged continued dedication to duty, stating that the promotion would further motivate him and his colleagues to redouble their efforts in service to the nation.
