The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has highlighted the importance of achieving mission success, saying it must be the main priority for all commanders.
In a briefing with senior officers on Tuesday, Oluyede emphasized the army’s commitment to achieving goals and maintaining high standards in its operations.
He urged commanders to stay focused, brave, and strategic in their efforts to ensure national security.
“Every military operation should aim for one clear goal: success in the mission,” he stated.
The army chief encouraged commanders in the field to be bold and innovative as they face new challenges.
He said that “be brave, be strong, be creative, and take calculated risks,” highlighting the qualities he expects from those leading troops.”

Also, the chief of army staff spoke about the need for a balanced approach, stating that commanders should be aggressive in their actions while also being careful to protect their forces.
“You must be relentless in carrying out well-planned attacks while still ensuring the safety of your troops,” he explained.
Oluyede reminded the officers that true success comes from hard work and sacrifice. He encouraged a spirit of discipline and resilience, reassuring everyone that the Army is growing stronger and more prepared.
“While we may not know what the future holds, we are confident in our skills right now. We will use that confidence to prepare for whatever challenges may come our way,” he said.
He emphasized that a commander’s drive for progress should be instinctive, and their passion to make a difference should be an inherent quality.
