Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving two commissioners of their duties and appointing new officials to strengthen governance and service delivery.
The development was made public in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya.
According to the statement, the commissioners affected are those overseeing the Ministries of Environment, and Intergovernmental and Special Duties. Governor Zulum thanked the outgoing officials for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours.
To fill the vacancies, the governor named Engineer Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as the new commissioners.
In a related development, Governor Zulum has appointed Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.

Professor Balami, an expert in Educational Psychology from Hawul Local Government Area, previously worked with the Borno State Ministry of Education between 1984 and 1988 before joining the University of Maiduguri, where he rose to the rank of professor in 2014.
He is a member of several professional organizations and has contributed extensively to academic research through numerous publications.
Governor Zulum congratulated Professor Balami on his new role and charged him to leverage his vast experience to reform and improve the quality of secondary education in the state.
All appointments, the statement added, have been forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
