Zulum pledges N5 Million each to families of fallen CJTF heroes in Dikwa Explosion

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has pledged a N5 million compensation package for each family of the eight members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who tragically lost their lives in a deadly explosion along the Dikwa–Marte road. The CJTF operatives were killed on Tuesday after encountering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a region long plagued by insurgency.

Governor Zulum made this announcement during a heartfelt condolence visit to the families of the deceased in Maiduguri on Friday, where he reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of those who put their lives on the line for the safety of Borno State. He described the late CJTF members as selfless patriots who died protecting their communities, adding that their bravery will never be forgotten.

In addition to the financial assistance, the governor revealed that the Borno State Government will sponsor full educational scholarships for the children left behind by the fallen heroes. According to Zulum, this gesture is not only a tribute to their sacrifice but a step towards securing a brighter future for their families. For those who passed away without children, he assured that alternative forms of support will be provided to their next of kin.

“The N5 million support for each family is meant to provide immediate relief and cater to pressing needs. We recognize the deep loss these families have suffered, and we will stand by them during this difficult time,” Zulum stated, urging the families to take solace in the heroic legacy of their loved ones.

The Civilian Joint Task Force, a grassroots security outfit made up of local volunteers, has played a critical role in Nigeria’s decade-long fight against Boko Haram and other terror groups in the North-East. Their collaboration with the military has led to significant victories in reclaiming and securing communities.

Zulum offered prayers for the souls of the departed and encouraged their families to draw strength from the courage and patriotism that defined the lives of the deceased. The tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the daily risks faced by those on the frontlines of Nigeria’s battle against terrorism.
