YEIDEP applicants face possible disqualification over bank account issues as deadline closes today

YEIDEP applicants face possible disqualification over bank account issues as deadline closes today

As the final countdown begins for the YEIDEP application deadline, which officially closes on May 31, 2025, millions of Nigerian youths are holding their breath in anticipation of the much-awaited July disbursement. However, with only a few hours left, critical updates reveal that not all applicants may receive the expected grant, despite completing the online form earlier this year.

The Youth Enterprise and Innovation Development Empowerment Programme (YEIDEP), which offers financial support ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦500,000, has attracted an overwhelming response from across the country. But sources close to the program warn that several applicants could be sidelined due to preventable oversights, especially relating to bank account activity and data accuracy.

One of the major reasons some applicants may miss out on the payment is the status of the bank account they submitted during registration. According to insider reports, accounts that have remained dormant, particularly those without even a token deposit, are being flagged by the system as inactive or suspicious. This has led to the disqualification of several entries, as the system assumes such accounts may no longer be in use or tied to genuine applicants.

Surprisingly, many hopefuls reportedly created new accounts for YEIDEP but failed to activate them with a minimum deposit, wrongly believing that account activity would not influence their eligibility. Financial experts now advise that even a small amount, such as ₦100 or ₦200, could make a crucial difference by signaling account validity.

In addition to inactivity, mismatched or improperly linked bank details are also emerging as a top disqualifier. While many followed instructions to open accounts with designated banks, errors in uploading account numbers, failure to confirm links with their application IDs, or simple oversight during form completion have blocked payments from being processed.

The application process, though user-friendly, still required applicants to verify their identity and provide accurate personal details. Unfortunately, some rushed through the steps, leaving blank fields or incorrect phone numbers and email addresses. As a result, they may miss essential follow-up notifications or requests for additional information that could have secured their inclusion.

YEIDEP’s latest update indicates that disbursement will begin in early to mid-July, but the payments will be released in batches, extending into August or even September. This phased approach is necessary to allow for rigorous verification and to ensure that only eligible recipients are paid. Applicants are advised to remain calm if they do not receive funds immediately in July, as staggered disbursement is standard in large-scale government programs.

While public confirmation from YEIDEP officials is still pending, multiple sources close to the initiative affirm that inactive or improperly linked bank accounts are among the biggest risks for disqualification. The warning comes as the deadline fast approaches, urging applicants to double-check their information before the portal closes.
