Wike arrives Italy for high-level talks with Lombardy region president

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Milan, Italy, ahead of crucial meetings aimed at fostering collaboration in agriculture, vocational education, and strategic development.

Wike, who departed Abuja on Tuesday night, touched down in Milan at approximately 4:30 am, on Wednesday, where he was received by Nigeria’s Charge d’Affairs in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike is set to meet the President of Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, on Thursday.

The discussions will focus on potential partnerships between the FCT and Lombardy, particularly in agriculture, and vocational education.

Lombardy, Italy’s most economically significant region, is home to nearly 10 million people, and ranks as the second most populous region in the European Union.

It also stands as the second-highest EU region by nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Beyond his engagement with Fontana, Wike will also meet with agri-business investors, and vocational training experts to explore opportunities that could benefit the FCT.

Accompanying the minister on the visit, are the FCT Mandate Secretaries for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, and that for Agriculture and Rural Development, Lawan Geidam.

Also, on the trip are the Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, and the Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation, Benedict Daudu.
