Plateau United have on yesterday, won this year’s Plateau State FA AITEO Cup after they edged Mighty Jets on penalties in a keenly contested final in Jos.
United trailing the Pride of Rivers on the Nigeria top-flight division (NPFL) log, were held to a goalless draw by the Jets which play in the Nigeria National League (NNL), a division NPFL precedes.
Jets presently sixth on the NNL table held the second-placed team on the NPFL log in the cracky derby final to stall them from recording a win within 90 minutes of game-time.
Although Plateau United had envisaged the match would be tough going by the antecedents of rivalry that exists between the two sides in Jos.

Expectedly, Mighty Jets’ fans needed a win against Plateau United after the club lost 1-0 to ABS last week’s Saturday to slide behind Yobe Stars that thrashed Zamfara United 3-1 on the NNL table.
In same vein, Plateau United needed to win at all costs to leverage on their one-all draw with Gombe United on Sunday to hand the Pride of Rivers a 10-point lead on the NPFL chart.
Consequent to the stalemate after game-time, Plateau United displayed the superior trait to score all their penalties while Mighty Jets lost one of theirs to hand the former the trophy on a 5-4 outcome.
